Ankylosing spondylitis

Ankylosing spondylitis
Spondylitis refers to changes in the spinal joints caused by aging, degeneration, or osteoarthritis. It is classified as cervical, thoracic, or lumbar based on the affected spinal region.
As joint cartilage wears down, the space between vertebrae narrows, increasing pressure on intervertebral discs. The body may form bone spurs, or osteophytes, in response. These changes can affect surrounding structures like facet joints, spinal discs, nerve roots, and even the spinal cord, leading to pain, stiffness, and reduced mobility.
Ankylosing spondylitis Causes
- The exact cause of ankylosing spondylitis is unknown.
- Genetic factors are believed to play a role.
- People with the HLA-B27 gene have a higher risk of developing the condition.
- However, not everyone with this gene will develop ankylosing spondylitis.
Ankylosing spondylitis Symptoms
- Early signs include pain in the spine or pelvis.
- Hip pain and stiffness, worsened by activity.
- Arthritis can develop in the shoulders, hips, knees, and ankles.
- Over time, severe inflammation causes the vertebrae to fuse together.
- This fusion, called ankylosis, is sometimes known as a “bamboo spine.”
- When the spine becomes rigid, posture is affected.
- Sitting, standing, or riding in a car for too long can be painful due to sacroiliac joint inflammation.
- Limited range of motion, especially in the hips.
Treatment Process of Ankylosing spondylitis at SL Regrow Clinic

treatment
We use advanced laser therapies to help manage pain and stiffness caused by ankylosing spondylitis. These therapies improve blood flow, reduce inflammation, and support tissue healing in affected areas.

Outcomes
Patients often experience reduced pain, improved flexibility, and relief from muscle stiffness. With regular sessions, laser therapy also supports better joint function and long-term comfort.
