Sciatica

Sciatica

The spine has four sections: cervical, thoracic, lumbar, and sacrum with coccyx. Each vertebra includes a body and arch with joints and muscle attachments.

The sciatic nerve begins at the lower spine, passes under the piriformis muscle, and extends down the leg. Sciatica can be caused by a herniated disc, spinal stenosis, spondylolisthesis, or piriformis syndrome. Bone spurs from osteoarthritis may also compress the nerve, leading to pain in the lower back, buttocks, leg, or foot

Sciatica Causes

  • Aging can lead to spinal changes like bone spurs or herniated discs.
  • Diabetes can contribute to spine and nerve issues.
  • Excess weight puts extra strain on the spine.
  • Lack of regular exercise weakens the back and core muscles.
  • Wearing high heels can affect posture and spinal alignment.
  • Sleeping on a mattress that’s too firm or too soft can lead to back pain.
  • Smoking may reduce blood flow to the spine, causing degeneration.
  • Jobs that require long hours of driving, heavy lifting, or repetitive twisting can increase the risk of back problems.

Sciatica Symptoms

  • Sciatica refers to pain, weakness, numbness, burning, or tingling in the leg caused by irritation of the sciatic nerve.
  • The pain starts in the lower back and travels down the back of the leg, usually affecting only one side.
  • It often comes and goes throughout the day.
  • Movement can make the pain worse due to nerve compression in the lower spine.
  • Sitting for long periods can also increase discomfort.
  • Some people may experience numbness, tingling, or muscle weakness in the leg or foot.
  • In rare cases, pain may occur in one part of the leg while numbness or weakness appears in another.

Treatment process of sciatica at at SL Regrow Clinic

Treatment

We use advanced laser therapies along with spinal decompression to treat sciatica. This combination helps reduce pain, relieve pressure on the sciatic nerve, and promote natural healing and regeneration.

Outcomes

Patients experience significant pain relief, improved mobility, and reduced pressure on the sciatic nerve. The treatment also supports long-term healing and nerve regeneration for lasting relief.
